Vegan Botanical Chocolates

Let’s Explore Making Vegan Botanical Chocolates

I’m excited to share a plant-based option for Vegan Botanical Chocolates to share your love on Valentine’s Day and beyond that is fun to make, filled with beneficial phytonutrients, and a fun creative exploration.

You can satisfy your chocolate cravings with these delicious, homemade vegan botanical chocolates. A throwback to times when you used to make Valentine’s treats for people, these mini chocolates are great for thinking about how you want to decorate them. I have some fun options in the Amazon link below that might spur your creative time wrapping the chocolates. This is also a fun activity with children or aging family members.

What do Valentine’s Day, Super Bowl and American Heart Month have in Common?

They share the same calendar month at first glance, but we can think about elements past that. I love to observe how food is intricately tied into how we celebrate – whether it is sports, birth, or love.

Having grown up with some internal disdain for highly commercialized holidays, I now like to consider what I want to walk toward in life without fear or shame. That is why I love making these vegan botanical chocolates.

For example, my husband loves sports, so the Superbowl will be on in our house when it is playing.

And he gets so excited when I make food for him, so this year, I have been thinking about reworking some of the classic appys. In part, that is why I wanted to share this simple 5 minute vegan dark chocolate with edible flowers.

With Chocolate, the Sky is the Limit!

There are so many flavor combinations for these vegan botanical chocolates.

I love adding edible organic flowers to my chocolates. It adds to the decadence and internal dance of flavor and plant chemistry. It has been so fun to work with molten chocolate. If you have not done this yet, I highly encourage it! It engages the senses.

I used an extensive silicone bar mold and then poured it into the mold in lower quantity to make it into the smaller bars. You can see this a bit more in the video below, which shows all the elements of how I put it together.

The different edible flowers provide color in such fun ways too.

Some combos here are calendula and black sesame, lavender and salt, rose calendula vanilla paste.

Here is How Vegan Botanical Chocolates are Made!

Hopping in and melting the chocolate and adding your flavors can be an adventure for the whole family. You can even sing songs or prayers as you are making it. There are recipes to make chocolate from cacao and cocoa butter, but they are a bit more time-consuming.

Here are the ingredients that I used. You can also find these at local natural foods grocery or cake supply stores. Be sure to stock up supplies for a rainy day as they last over time, and February and March are known for their stormy weather.

Recipe

I hope you have as much fun as I did getting creative with different flavors of dark chocolate bites. I found this was the perfect size to satisfy my desire for chocolate.

In our kitchen, we don’t strive for perfection; we aim for nourishment to sustain us for the work we feel called to do while on this planet. That includes thinking about sustainability, buying local, and creating food seasonally. Planning parties when you have all sorts of different food preferences present. It’s a journey to find what tastes good and appeals to others; however, experimentation can be done. Making these vegan botanical chocolates with flowers is a great option for exploring plant-based eating.
