How To Nurture A Vision

Here are eight questions that will make you think about how to nurture your career.

To start, let’s consider if are you a short-term realist and/or a long-term visionary?

Take a moment to recall when you had a sense that you were part of a bigger plan…
…. a moment when the commitment to a vision/mission became something that was no longer negotiable.

If you are a #dreamer#pioneer, or #visionary, you have likely also spent time feeling restless, anxious, and depressed trying to figure out why the work you are here to do is hard to accomplish.

For me, the vision was to become an expert in Integrative Medicine and help bridge knowledge between modern and ancient medical systems. And dang, it has taken time. From undergrad studies to a master’s degree to medical school to residency to a fellowship in integrative medicine and then three more years of full-time study of Ayurveda, it took almost 20 years of formal education. And then further refining while learning from individual teachers.

And through it all, the resolve to work towards this has never wavered. Perhaps over time, there have been unexpected losses that were painful; however, I have never seen another direction to go.

Today I’m sharing 8 points of inflection that been useful for me.

Take a moment to pause, stop scrolling, and look at these questions. See what comes up.

Grab a pen.

Inhale…
… exhale.

This is an opportunity to reflect on how to nurture the vision that walks with you through the day and is so ingrained in your being that it makes your heart skip a beat or two before you fall asleep at night when you think about it.

A vision that requires an unfettered focus and will likely take many steps to accomplish…

…. AND is quite frankly irrational to most everyone.

Let’s put some energy into that system and fuel the reserves because we are in need of innovation from a place of both intuition AND facts/scientific analysis. Novel solutions that radically look at how health is determined and maintained.
